Where are encounter ICD and CPT codes

Hi,

Can anyone point me to where encounter diagnostic codes can be found?  I was not able to find them in the database tables or the file system.  I was not able to lookup CPT or ICD diagnostic codes either.

This will help me determine patients with that have procedures, test, or diseases for MU reporting.

Does anyone know how are the codes updated?

Thanks,

ICD files and CPT don’t come loaded by default.  JoeH wrote a nice FAQ about it which can be found on the wiki
http://www.openmedsoftware.org/wiki/File:Using_PLX_loader_files_in_Windows.pdf

This kind of request is more suited to the HELP forum.  This forum is for discussing development projects, etc.

Tony;  Tanks for the mention.

Bobbi;  Try to limit “Help” questions to there - you’ll get faster, and probably more directly helpful replies.

To flesh out Tony’s reply - there is a helper PLX file which can automatically copy the newest ICD9 codes from icd9data.com to the (Superbill in Radio) Admin - Services listing.  My writeup is specific for Windows, though the Linux world is similar.  But you must pay AMA for the CPT listing, so most users manually enter them (see the Superbill section).

We have actually converted the two upload scripts from Perl to PHP a while back. Do you want us to contribute the codes as well?

Is the Pope Catholic?  Which of the upload scripts have you made PHP?  There are a bunch of PLX files in the distribution, each for a different upload.

Please, anyone who has made a publically usable script to automate any process used to populate OpenEMR, let us know and ideally post the code here.  Thanks.

Were those upload scripts that were converted to PHP ever contributed? If so, where can I find them?

ICD-9 codes and HCPCS codes are owned by the federal government and re available for free.

Your fees you have to enter yourself.

The CPT codes are owned/copyrighted by the AMA and cannot be distributed for free.

Thank you brady.

Dr. Bowen, I was referring to the two upload scripts that Thomas mentioned had been converted from Perl to PHP a while back.
