What is a Transaction

from the users manual

"TRANSACTIONS

Entering a referral or forms information

After filling out a form for a patient or making a referral appointment, from his or her summary screen, click on transaction.
Choose the type of transaction from the drop down menu.
Type details about the form and what we filled out in the input box.
Then click on add new transaction."

ok I am still working on the internal billing and i find this section will be confusing to my customers. To me a transaction implies a payment. I think this should be changed to Referrals or Dr. Requests.

Can anyone tell me how they are using this feature if its being used or not…

I think of this as a record of sending privacy sensitive information.  The categories suggest information useful for HIPPA compliance.

We record all of this information in the "pnotes".  I the old paper charts there was a section of lined paper where we kept a running log of all chart activity:

incoming telephone calls
outgoing telephone calls
referrals
conversations with other physicians
Medication administration with date and time
transfers of medical records

The term are from the early days of OpenEMR when there was not as much physician involvement.  The use of the word "Transaction" refers to a transaction of information and is a misnomer.  We do not use this word in this fashion in medical practices.

I essence we use "pnotes" for all of this functionality as a single running log.

Our office does not use this feature.

(Better yet - use the real eastate for some other function)

Rod created the current manual.  Maybe he has clients that use this feature.

cool its toast then. I also made a change to the summary screen that you are sent to after yo umake an encounter. to me it seems the three frames on the bottom are redundant to the fee sheet.

so i placed the fee sheet on this page.
