Anyone given though to creating a VM for OpenEMR - FeeB and SQL Ledger in a fully working condition and then keeping the VM on torrent for download and share. VMWare has a FREE VMPlayer available and anyone can download that and run the VM.
Thoughts??

I already offer this as a service, including support for getting started.  See http://www.sunsetsystems.com/node/4 .

It’s a great way to try out OpenEMR with your own data and without the limitations of the online demos, and it can even be used to run a small clinic.

I don’t do this for free because it’s too time-consuming.  However someone else may be willing to, and they would have my blessing.

I am a satisfied customer.

I consider myself to be a pretty good programmer, but setting up the mess of stuff you need to have everything working together properly takes a lot of time and effort.  I needed to get up and running quickly, so I bought a vm from Rod.

It is definitely worth it.  I was up in no time.  It was a matter of copying the vm to my Windows XP laptop and starting it up.  All of the computers in the office were able to log on immediately.

I have since moved the server to a Red Hat desktop machine, which was just a matter of copying over the vm files and starting it up again.  Now the server sits in a locked room, but the guest OS set up by Rod is still running everything.

I have one small suggestion for Rod:

Add a few more printer drivers!  The selection in Ubuntu seems pretty limited.  I finally found a Deskjet 960c that worked.  You need a printer hooked up to the server if you want to print the hcfa 1500 forms.  I guess when buying a printer, its a good idea to look at the list of existing installed drivers first.
