I downloaded the CVS version of OpenEMR yesterday and began testing with a copy of our production database and concurrent layout ‘0’ (old style layout with no left menu). We have been using OpenEMR since version 2.8.3 and have always used concurrent layout ‘0’. The tab structure looks great and we are looking forward to upgrading to OpenEMR 4.0. However, I noticed the redundancy with the original top menu and the menu above the tabs. When OpenEMR 4.0 releases we would still like to use concurrent layout ‘0’. I am not sure how much emphasis will be put into accommodating users of concurrent layout ‘0’. So I was wondering if a short term work around of commenting out the menu above the tabs ( Rx | History | Report | Documents | Transactions ) would be OK? Or is that not recommended? Also, how many are using concurrent layout ‘0’?
hey,
On recent testing, have noted several painful bugs from the gui refactoring brought into the layout 0 entry. Will be important to fix these. Will place this in the bug tracker and label it to get done before the 4.0 release. In the end with the gui refactoring, the hope is to combine simplicty of layout 0 with the flexibility of layout 2. Would be especially nice to try to get away from the top/bottom frame stuff in layout 2 and instead make it like layout 0, while also keeping the tree view on the left.

I use this original layout also. I know that it is not recommended. I am careful to never look up different patient encounters in different tabs or windows of the same browser. I tell my staff they will just have to wait and not interrupt me. I think this is the risk of using this layout. The JavaScript workaround that Rod came up with a while back will not work. Maybe that was his motivation for creating the new style with the menu on the left (originally radio buttons). Hopefully Rod or others will clarify this.
As long as the original layout is supported, the “concurrent layout” feature is supposed to work. If it does not, you should enter a bug report with details sufficient to reproduce it.
However, keep in mind that you must have a separate login for each session. Don’t try to start a new session without a corresponding login.
