Are you guys interested in having a group of real idiots banging keys full-time on 4.0?
If the project as a whole needs a pack of total knuckle heads to…ummm….“help” with testing, I am ready to sign us on. I have discussed this with the Executive Director. If a developer needs access to our system’s installation to monitor logs, make patches themselves, or investigate problems, we can either make out a business partner agreement, or have them fill out a volunteer application so that they may have full access. We will also arrange and pay for any background screening etc… that may be necessary, though this may not be required for a good number of you.
I have 4 administrators, and 35 counselors…most of whom need my regular help figuring out how to turn on their PC. As a group, we have 3 macs (OSX), 7 (Oh Your God) Vista users, 4 Windows 7 users, and the rest of the pack equipped with XP machines. We have a few folks who occasionally access via smart phone.
We have 850 clients/patients in our database. We have about 200 active cases. We have problematic x12 partners (Magellan, Availity, PHC/FHP, and Medicaid). We have a part time biller that is a little squirrelly…OK, actually, she is downright nutty as a squirrel turd (though greatly loved). This should create some real havoc.
I am currently needing to do a lot of tweaking to 3.2.0 to get it to do the things we need it to do, as this is Mental Health and not everyday medical. We started our database in 2.8 or so, and have (*ahem*) upgraded it as we went along. The learning curve has been long and bloody, with big spots of oil all over the track. Upshot is, my attempts at improvement are mostly futile, as I absolutely know I will need to switch over to 4.0 as soon as possible. Not real smart to continue teaching the old dog new tricks when it is on life support and morphine drip, you know?
Upshot: I wanna get out of 3.2 as soon as possible, and start working/developing in the 4.0 environment. I am ready to be an on-call go-to guy ready to work on cleaning up disasters and smoothing feathers. I will format/filter bug reports from users, document usage notes for the manual-in-development, and survey users for input. There may or may not be need for some direct assistance during an upgrade (or heck, it might go smoothly), but I am not asking for someone to come in and fix problems for us. Specifically, I want to do as much as I possibly can, and use the opportunity to learn.
