Strange problem with saving dictation notes

rayaz wrote on Friday, October 29, 2010:

Hi all,

I recently installed Kubuntu 10.10 and Openemr ver 3.2.  I then restored a backup from another machine with Ubuntu 8.04 and Openemr ver 3.2 to this machine. Everything works fine except for the fact that when saving dictation notes the first time you click save, it just saves an empty dictation note. Data entry the next time around in the same dictation notes saves normally.

Can you please help?

Regards

I guess you mean the Speech Dictation encounter form?

It worked OK for me in the 3.2 demo site.  You might try reproducing your problem there.

Hi

Yes, I mean the Speech Dictation encounter form. It works OK in the demo on the Kubuntu 10.10 installation. However the local host/openemr has the problem I mentioned.

Any suggestions?

First thing I’d do is check the PHP error log, and also check for any errors reported by the browser (in Firefox you’d bring up the Error Console for that).

Hi

This is what I get from my Apache log:

PHP Deprecated:  Assigning the return value of new by reference is deprecated in /var/www/openemr/library/adodb/adodb.inc.php on line 1930, referer: http://localhost/openemr/interface/patient_file/encounter/new_form.php

Firefox Error console is clean.

We have been having this problem on our server.  Jeremy Wallace notes that this bug is dependent on the specific PHP version that you are using.  Upgrading the PHP made this go away (CENTOS 5.4).  Write Jeremy an email j wallace at openemrsupport . com for details on the version numbers.
