Status Update

Just to provide an update on what is happening in the ‘outside world’.

ONC is moving forward with a Temporary and a Permanaent Certification.  The temporary program is a stop gap until they have a permanant program in place, since they are not moving fast enough to specify who will do certification to meet the needs of both developers and providers.

In all probability CCHIT will be one of if not the only body to provide certification under the Temporary Program, and they will probably be one of the permanent bodies also.

NIST has published guidelines on what “Meaningful use Certification” should look like.  they can be found at:
http://xw2k.nist.gov/healthcare/use_testing/index.html

The final version of “Meaningful Use” should be published by ONC in about a month.  The comment period for the IFR has expired.

Fred Trotter is having another OpenSource Meeting in Houston.  I will be attending.  Will anybody else be there?
