Stage 2 MU Certification

Also,

Vendors have a huge incentive to keep MU2, so would focus a lot on them in the request (ok to ask them to get donations from their customers, but unclear of the comment to request from their developers).

I assume you meant “When we have…” and thus will not get too excited. What needs to be done to get that 16K in hand?

Feel free to make any changes you think are needed to have more impact. What I did was just some mental excersice to get things going.

The http:// 's were some ideas to make contributors aweare of what is needed and what is achieved.

Easiest and fastest way to go is delete what seems overburden of what is not relevant or available.

O.K., soliciting email has been re-worked. If more needs to be done, let out a holler.

We just received a generous donation from OSMS, the original non-profit that was created by Dr Sam Bowen for Open Source Medical Systems support. They donated the remainder of their funds ($4,467.28) and closed up shop. (which has been planned for a while).

I also created a ‘barometer’ to track the funds at: http://www.open-emr.org/wiki/index.php/OpenEMR_Certification_Stage_II_Meaningful_Use#Fund_Raising

The zend discussion needs to be continued in a different thread, but I thought the zend loader tool only applied to the Lab Module that ZH is working on, not to the rest of the MU work, such as CCR/CDA…

Donations are tax deductible, if taxes are paid in the U.S.

This could also be an incentive in other Countries.

I made some additional information available on tax deduct-ability in the following page:

http://www.open-emr.org/wiki/index.php/Talk:OpenEMR_Professional_Support#Form_letter_to_request_contributions.2Fdonations_for_meaningful_use_2

Ronald L. and Tony Mc, could you please check the text and change/delete, if needed or clarify where I might have misinterpreted your correspondence on this matter.

fsgl wrote on Wednesday, January 15, 2014:

It may be counter-productive to include paragraphs about tax deductibility because it dilutes the urgency of the email appeal.

There are times that even the Internal Revenue Service does not know what is in the tax code. Brady could do without replies asking for clarifications about tax matters.

Vendors have busy schedules; therefore would suggest that the email be brief, concise and to the point.

I only make changes once feel free to correct. If deleted there is no problem for me. My advise would be: “Let the consensus decide”.

I would like to get a letter and read how to make it deductible, but that is a personal opinion. I also would like to know if all is being deducted or only a very smaal amount, since this is what happened in Curacao. Only a very small amount of tax reduction would be gained if I used this way of support for office or personal deductions.

Hi,

Made some changes:
http://www.open-emr.org/wiki/index.php/Talk:OpenEMR_Professional_Support#Form_letter_to_request_contributions.2Fdonations_for_meaningful_use_2

Note I removed all the tax deduction stuff. Figured would hit with the request and where to go to donate in the first several sentences with further details below that. Please revise for more clarity, improved grammar, etc. etc.

Hoping to get this sent out over the weekend.

No further editing needed.

If not done so already, a modified email to CVerk & Jojo Pornebo as well. SourceForge will forward emails, if enabled.

Are there additional Forum members (infrequent posters) who should be solicited?

bradymiller wrote on Friday, January 24, 2014:

Hi,
Just sent out the emails to all listings on professional support page in addition to the oemr mailing list. Regarding individual solicitations, could send them a message via sourceforge (feel free to do this, they should know who you are by now  ).

Will do. Sent a letter to Henry Alvarez last week.

fsgl wrote on Wednesday, January 29, 2014:

The limit for SourceForge emails is 2 per 24 hours, so it’s slow going. It’s o.k. because it’s time consuming to get to each profile.

CVerk does not accept messages from this forum, therefore if an email address is available for him, please let me know so the solicitation can go out to him. CVerk had attested successfully in 2011 and 2012 making him more receptive to the appeal.

Does anyone know if Henry Alvarez responded?

Hi Brady,

Slowly working my way through 76 solicitations via SourceForge. Six is an auspicious number in China while seven is lucky in the U.S. Then the alms bowl will be retired until MU3.

Paul (LAMS) just donated $100 and he wants to help with the legwork for MU2! Emailed back a “thank you” note. I thought it best if you advise him regarding his offer to help in non-monetary ways. He’s a developer.

Goal number 1 achieved. We have $25,000 in the bank to pay for the certification testing with margin for retesting if needed or modular certification.
