Some options in globals

Hello!
In administration->globals->features…there are options for masking patient ID, invoice id and product id…what are these for?? They donot seem to mask anythong as i tried in demo…to mask all the three…how do they work…??? Please help on these….

It is not “mask” as in “hide”, It is a mask, a kind of rule on what data format will be accepted in these fields. When you rest your pointer on the global setting, you will see a tool-tip like “#=digit, @=Alpha, *= Any character . . .”

To test this, enter “#” in the Patient I.D global setting, save, click on new patient. In the Patient I.d/External I.D, try to enter a letter ( e.g. KJH as opposed to a digit like 234). It will not be accepted.

Another thing I forgot to mention, when using the masks, you must input the entire length of the field e.g @@##@ will only accept two letters followed by two numbers, followed by a letter and that is all. You wont be able to input more than 5 and they will have to be in that order. Helps prevent errors to an extend.
