When I scan an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper it is resized and can’t be printed without playing around with the printer’s scaling feature.
Is the anyway to control the image size?

That is probably system dependent. What are you scanning to? JPG, PDF? I scan everything to PDF and I have not had that problem.

Hi Mark,
Thanks for your reply. I scan docs as pdfs when I need to associate the document with a patient but really don’t need to view it.
If I do a paper encounter I scan it as a TIF so I can view it within the browser. I see that imagemagick converts the tif to jpg - may be this also results in a resize.
I’ll do my next scan as a jpg and see if that makes a difference.

Hi Guys,
Your post caught my attention as I am testing a FireFox issue for viewing PDF’s in OpenEMR. We currently scan docs as PDF’s to place in a patient chart. The issue is that after about a dozen or so views of different PDF’s, Firefox will lock up. I have searched forums for related FireFox issues and have applied all recommended fixes, however the problem still persists. I am now investigating the size of my PDF’s to determine if file size would pose a problem.
What is the recommended size for each PDF document in a patient chart?
Regards,
-Mike

I uploaded 1.45 MB PDF file ~ 330 pages.
The display delay was ~ 1.5 seconds.
no freezing.
The test was done on a client station windows XP pro. running Firefox 3.03 and browsing the server IP address.
If you run this test on the same server, the display is slower with more delay 3-4 seconds.

I’m still having problems! If I scan as pdf the file gets converted to jpg automatically. Can this be disabled?
