Quantifiable SOAP Data

billpet wrote on Thursday, April 22, 2010:

I’m working with a Chiropractor who would like to be able to enter quantifiable data such as pain scale (1 to10), range of motion measurements and several others. He then wants to eventually be able to print a report graphing the pain scale and ROM over several encounters.

If I was to work on this, would it be widely used or do most docs just want the free text field? I suppose it could be implemented as an option to have one form or the other, or just use ajax to expand the extra fields if they want.

Forgive my questions, but I’m new to this project and don’t know how new features are decided on.

I haven’t put together a full list of requirements yet, once I do should I submit a bug report asking for these features?

I have alot to learn about coding for OpenEMR so I’m sure I won’t be ready to submit anything for a while but I’m eager to get started, this is a very cool project and seems to be very well organized.

Thanks,
-Bill

I have forms I created for some of that.  Range of Motion, Grip Strength, Extremities Measurement.  Be happy to contribute them.

hey,

Would be a very cool feature. Some legwork has already been done on this type of project.

Check out this tracker item:
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&aid=2945397&group_id=60081&atid=1245239

And check out this thread:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/openemr/forums/forum/202506/topic/3522682

Could use the code already developed as your starting point. Your proposal will be much easier than that discussed in the above thread since your data will already exist in your customized forms.

Tony, that would be great, how can I get the forms from you? Are they posted somewhere? If not I guess I can post my email like this: MyFirstname dot MyLastname at gmail.

Thanks,
Bill Peters

Also you might look at the “layout based forms” feature in the current release as an easy way to make your own forms.

Bill,
I’ll send you a zip file in email, to start with.  I have a pile of forms I’ve been meaning to add to the contribs section.  Need to test them with 3.2 and 4.0 first, however.  Then I’ll post.

I have some forms I coded on chiropractic and cardiology. Is there a way to test it on OpenEMR and where can I post it if someone wants to use it.

Bill,

I have a few Chiropractor Clients who would be interested in using this EMR cutomized for their use.  is there any way I can see your work and share it with them?

billpet wrote on Tuesday, April 27, 2010:

I haven’t completed anything yet, one I do I will submit it.

Thank you Bill

rdhingra,
If forms are in proper OpenEMR format, then can copy the form directory into openemr/interface/forms . Then can install the form within OpenEMR via Administration->Other->Forms menu. If it works, then we can place it into the common codebase at openemr/contrib/forms directory (just place a zipped file of form in the ‘Code Review’ tracker here, or can also email it to brady@sparmy.com).
thanks,
brady

If OpenEMR keep improving as it is, will the Download of every new version still be manageable?

QUESTION: Is it an option to start somewhere in the WIKI, a compilation of the different working forms, so everyone who wants to download can make a pick of the interesting features and include them in the right Directory or table? You might call them ADD-ons.

For example:
IPPF forms
SOAP
Psychiatry forms
Chiropractic forms
Cardiology form
General forms

etc.

I could come up with even more suggestions, but I only  want do some sounding to see if there is support for this idea.

The IDEA is: Download, store in correct Directory and Activate.

I am a chiropractor in the USA, Missouri as well as manage a dental office I would love to see some coded forms. I also have many forms but they are not coded to the OpenEMR, perhaps you could help me do the conversion . I have been doing forms for years.
