could it be something as simple as not entering the username and password you set up in the mysql openemr database?

TMDO,

There is nothing more upsetting than computer problems be they software or hardware. Firstly, try not to panic. It’s easier said than done.

Secondly, posting the same message 4 times is the digital equivalent of an emotional meltdown. It will get everyone’s attention but not their sympathy. Major contributors scan all the forums, often multiple times in a day; therefore one post in the Help Forum will suffice. You don’t want Forum members to be annoyed and rolling their eyes.

Thirdly, next time you post in the Help Forum, remember to give the OpenEMR version, your operating system and browser to expedite the matter.

Suggestions toward resolution:

  1. Go to C-drive and delete the xampp directory (folder).
  2. Install the package as service (Option 1) here.
  3. Turn on Apache & MySQL, shown here, following steps 2, 3 & 4.
  4. Open Firefox. Be certain in Tools/Options/Privacy/History that “Accept 3rd-party cookies:” is “From Visited”.
  5. Put http://localhost/openemr in the address bar of Firefox. Log in with the username: admin and the password: pass

Follow all directions to the letter and if necessary print the directions before proceeding.

I’ll check in again to see how you fared.

Fsgl,
thanks for your response. Am sorry if i had created some sort of anxiety, that was not deliberate. I guess i dont know how things work around this forum very well yet. On the lighter mood, For a while, you got me laughing uncontrollably with the 2nd paragraph of your responce. ‘Digital meltdown’ smiles its really frustrating to whin through an installation for almost 3mths without head way.
Back to the issue, i’m using windows 7, xampp 1.8, openemr 4.1.2 patch 3. I have just done all the process you stated yet am stuck on the login page. I cant login. Here is my suggestion, may be we can hook up together online using TEAMVIEWER software then you can put me through the installation using your experience. Thanks.

Laughter is cathartic. To paraphrase Marcus Aurelius, none of this will matter in 100 years.

I just downloaded the package and it does not come with any patches.

How did you get 4.1.2 with patch 3?

bradymiller wrote on Friday, January 24, 2014:

Hi,
4.1.2 packages (except for xampp) that are downloaded are using patch 3 (although doing this was resource intensive, it needed to be done, since the patch fixed a php 5.5 bug in the installation script). Didn’t need to place fix in xampp package since it is already installed there and is not using php 5.5.

Thanks, El Jefe.

TMDO,

My understanding of Brady’s post leads me to think that you installed OpenEMR 4.1.2 with patch 3 and XAMPP separately.

If that is the case, use the link in step 2 and install OpenEMR-XAMPP as 1 download.

XAMPP Control is even easier to use now. Just click “Start” for Apache and MySQL, then click “Quit” to exit.

You don’t have to fool with the Privacy tab in Firefox anymore.

Do steps 1 and 2.
Start both services and exit.
Do step 5.

We’ll talk about patch 4 when you’re able to login.

@fsgl
thanks for your reply. The xampp-openemr link you gave me is not opening. It displays error. This is the url it points to http://tenet.dl.sourceforge.net/project/openemr/OpenEMR%20Windows%20XAMPP%20Package/4.1.2/xampp-openemr-4.1.2.zip
what can i do to or any other site can i download the xampp-openemr 4.1.2 so that i can try a fresh installation as you stated. Thanks

TMDO,

You did delete the xampp folder (the one with patch 3), correct? It will get very confusing if you don’t.

Initially you want to save the file, not open it. Because it’s a .zip, you have to save and unzip it before you can open it. It’s about 240 MB and if you have a slow DSL connection like mine, it will take about 20-30 minutes to download. See attachment 1.

The link is correct. Use the link in your post, so you won’t have to navigate back to the OpenEMR Download page. Just click it again and be patient for the download to complete. After completion of the download, extract the .zip file to C-drive. Windows 7 will ask you where you want to extract the files to.

Once the file extraction has been completed, go to C-drive and then to the new xampp folder. Click that folder to open it. On the bottom of the listing of the subfolders is xampp-control. See attachment 2. Start Apache & MySQL then “Quit” to exit. See attachment 3.

Do step 5 from my post above.

Brady has made this installation very easy. Follow the instructions exactly. You can do this yourself. The sense of accomplishment will be very gratifying once you are able to login. Persevere and be patient.

I’ll check in later.
