OpenEMR version 4.0 release schedule

meditcare wrote on Thursday, April 08, 2010:

Brady, Rod;

Is the release plan/timeline for 4.0 already decided?

We are working on some improvements that we would
like to synchronize for check-in with the release schedule.

Thanks,
MedITcare Team

The release of 4.0 is going to be likely several months.  This is going to be a major upgrade with a lot of the new “Meaningful Use” features integrated.  This release will also have the new GUI.  We are hoping that the erealgroup will be able to integrate their CSS changes as demonstrated here:

Here is a first mockup for 4.0 http://creativemindworks.net/eblast/oemr/mockup4.0.jpg

Other features will include Disease Management, CPOE, Laboratory Routing, improved e-prescribing, Patient reminders, and lots of other improvements:

hey,
since we’re already quoting release estimates… probably will be anywhere from 3-9 months depending on how things go.

Rod,

Currently we are working on the Fee-Sheet;
introducing Ajax lookup for the search box.
This has been a client request to simplify data entry.

I am glad to hear erealgroup new GUI/CSS is going to be included.
It looks awesome and will greatly improve the perception.

Thanks,

I have about 85% of the code written to do an AJAX fee sheet model.   What to see what we have done already?  Share the code, etc…

I’m posting some screen shots of the work in progress on the wiki as part of the UI project…

Very interesting, Tony. I am working very closely with MedlTcare and this is very important. I have a question for you? Once the Doctor adds the issues and selects the diagnosis , what is the need for again selecting the diagnosis in the fee sheet. In my opinion, once the doctor decides the issue and related diagnosis it should be fixed and caaried over to the fee sheet to justify. I would appreciate your views. Then it cn be ported to the fee sheet and only procdure code will be selected and justified.

Issues should be able to be optionally carried into a charge module, that feature could be added to the Gap review, but it must be optional, an Issue is typically used for chronic care, acute care would be a new diagnosis and short lived in the duration.  Ie: billed this once but not carried forward.   For chronic care and continuity care being able to bring the issue record forward is a good thing.

PS: this topic (charge entry) should be created as a new post …  not really related to 4.0 release schedule …
