I was analyzing OpenEMR software and found it very interesting and comprehensive. I would like to propose it for a medium/large hospital with approximately 50,000 patients and many concurrent users.
Could anyone tell me if it is suitable for this kind of use? Are there hospitals or clinics of similar or bigger size that adopted OpenEMR?
I don;t think OpenEMR is suitable for hospital use, except emergency field hospitals. and maybe very small rural hospitals. I would seriously look at Astronaut Vista instead. http://astronautvista.com/

I don’t think even small hospitals could use OpenEMR as it is now, since there is no discharge date and no support for institutional billing. An outpatient setting is assumed.
However it would be reasonable to add these things.
Thank you Tony and Rod for the answers, they are very helpful to me.
Let me ask one more thing: If patients were “day patients” and billing would not be an issue, could OpenEMR be a good choice for a clinic or hospital as I described (a total of 50,000 patients and many concurrent users)?
I don’t think the volume would be a problem. Suggest you dig more into the details and figure out if the features you need are all there, or if you are willing to sponsor the development of whatever is missing. It’s nice to have larger sites which can afford to make important improvements, so I think you’ll find a very welcoming community here!
Thank you Rod.
If volume is not a problem, then I can follow your suggestion and dig more into the software and unerstand if all the features we need are there. Development of new features could be an option to explore. I will let you now.
Thanks,
