Hi I am attempting to install version OpenEMR 4.1.2 and also stuck at this step… I see the following line in error_log:

PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function mysql_connect() in /var/www/html/openemr/library/classes/Installer.class.php on line 459, referer: http://127.0.0.1/openemr/setup.php?site=default

Thanks in advance.

Is this applicable to your device?

“If using CentOS or Redhat, then ensure when configuring MySQL for OpenEMR, STRICT_MODE must be disabled. This can be done in the MySQL configuration (my.cnf) file. You can check the setting in an existing MySQL instance by executing SHOW VARIABLES; in the MySQL Command Line Client and checking the value of SQL_MODE. For more details see: http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/server-sql-mode.html).”

Thanks for the reply, I checked the my.cnf and did not see anything mentioning STRICT_MODE, and also the SHOW VARIABLES; the sql_mode field is blank.

If no luck with Stephen’s link, consider installing xampp for Linux and re-install of OpenEMR.

Failing that, consider installing Linux Mint 16 with Brady’s Ubuntu-Debian package.

It may seem like a lot of work to switch operating systems, but over the long haul, it’s a good investment of time and effort. Forum members who switched to Linux Mint are very satisfied with it. Brady’s package is remarkably easy to install.

If you are wedded to the old operating system, you can dual-boot.
