Hello All,

Does Openemr has Stage 2 EHR Certification? If not, If you have to attest for stage2 in 2016 what are our options?

Venkat

hi venkat, it’s already too late to attest to the medicare program for 2016 if you haven’t used or have been using a complete CEHRT solution for 90 consecutive days this year. I’m guessing that your last chance for attestation is the adopt, implement, and use provision in the medicaid program which is conducted by the individual states. You should check there and hope to use the complete OpenEMR certification that will hopefully be released later this month. http://www.open-emr.org/wiki/index.php/OpenEMR_Certification_Stage_II_Meaningful_Use#Completion_Barometer

Hi Stephen, We have been using Openemr 4.2.0 since its release on 2014-12-28 and we have been collecting meaningful use data. We applied for Hardship Exception in 2015.

  1. can we still attest fro 90 consecutive days this year?
  2. If we cannot apply for 90 consecutive days, is the rule is that we have to apply for full year with the openemr complete certification?

Thank you

Venkat

Hi Stephen,

I also found this on CMS web site:

“Beginning with 2016, the EHR reporting period must be completed within January 1 and December 31 of the calendar year. EPs eligible hospitals, and CAHs that are new participants in the program would have an EHR reporting period of any continuous 90-day period between January 1, 2016 and December 31, 2016. However, for all returning participants, the EHR reporting period would be a full calendar year from January 1, 2016 through December 31, 2016.”

since we are returning participants do we have to report for the full calendar year?

We did start meaningful use in 2012

First Year 2012 Stage 1
Second year 2013 Stage 1
Thrid Year 2014 Stage 1
Fourth Year 2015 Stage 2 Applied for Hardship
Now trying to do 2016 Stage 2

please advice.

Thank you for your help.

It sounds like you should have applied for hardship again this year

President Trump with an all-Republican Congress was not my preference, but now that we are there what are the chances all this goes away?

The blogs and HIT people all say that the new administration will NOT change MU and Macra any time in the near future, only the consumer side of the Health Care Act is of any interested to them.
