Hi Brady,
I am in Kenya and have installed openEMR  Ver. 4.1.1 (9) to one public health facility. I am yet to do a presentation on Jan 25th, but I haven’t gotten it fully running as it should. I am working over time on this.
The major hurdles are Pharmacy Module and Lab module;
I haven’t been able to set it up, by following the the instructions provided.
Could you be of help by providing a clearer information esp on defining lab locations…. how can I specify that it is internal?
for pharmacy… the specific choice for “Admin >Globals >Features >Drugs and Products; " I chose here Inventory and sell both ……”
I also cant get to decrement the drugs after dispensing.
Thanks as I anticipate.

Dear Jeffrey,

I work in Nigeria and trying to promote the use of OpenEMR.  I have had the same problems and this is mainly due to inadequate documentation - a problem with all Open source applications.  Let me share with you how I overcame some of these.

When you add a new drug, in the table of inventory, you would see NEW on the row for the drug.  Click on this and it would open a form that allows you to enter the stock you have, where it came from, etc.  If is after completing this form that the drug is available in the inventory for dispensing.  So when you click “Save and Dispense” on the prescription edit form, your inventory would be appropriately adjusted.

As for the lab configuration, it is complex and requires an understanding of the logic of the programme and the way your  laboratory test are organized.  It does not have to be an in-house laboratory or external if you are part of a laboratory exchange network as the results are entered manually.

Hope the above helps.

Jeffrey,
There’s quite a bit of documentation (besides the user guide) in the Documentation folder. Refer to things like:
Laboratory Catalogue Configuration
Diagnostic Laboratories & Orders
Laboratory Orders & Results

They’re all in PDF which makes it easy.

Where about’s re you in Kenya?
I’m in Kenya at the moment if you wish to contact me fay@voip4africa.net

All the best for your presentation on 25th and let me know if you need any further info, I’d be glad to help.

Kind Regards,
Fay Naj,
COO.
