OpenEMR Design Documents

Hi all:

I’m looking for Design Document for OpenEMR. I need this so I can quickly intimate the code structure so extensions can be made efficiently. I searched over the Web but did not return anything useful.

I understand using some dev tools can figure out the code structures but it is piece meal view.

Can anyone kindly share if you have created a design document or design specification for OpenEMR? There maybe some opportunities in the future for you, as my company is also looking for developers for a start up in Silicon Valley.

Thanks in advance.
Charles

Hi Charles,

My company, OpenEMR HQ, is currently working on several new extensions to the base OpenEMR package including a streamlined document creation process. We should have that available in a few weeks and it’ll be available as a download directly from our site (www.openemrhq.com) and, hopefully, from within the main OpenEMR package (we are going to submit it back into the community).

In the meantime, check out the /contrib directory within your OpenEMR installation. I believe there is a tool for form/document creation there that works well to generate a technically correct document and its associated database tables that you can then edit further.

Let me know if I can be of any help. Hope this is the information you’re looking for.

Sincerely,
Dave Kennerson

Charles, you didn’t say what you already looked at.  Documentation/SystemArchitecture.odt in the OpenEMR distribution is an OpenOffice document that has some good info.
