OpenEMR and EKG

Setting up my wife’s new clinic, and pricing 12 lead EKG machines (perhaps used).   Some $$$ EKG machines can emit faxes (which we can capture with Asterisk) and some $$$$$ EKG machines have ethernet connectivity.   Some $$ Chinese EKG machines connect straight to PCs, but I doubt those are FDA approved.

Eliminating a printout and scan step would save time.  While I doubt we will get this all set up right away, it would be nice to purchase hardware with the capability, at least.  Suggestions?

I expect that any that were designed within the last twenty years would have some provision for data output.  Serial ports are no longer built into laptops though, so you would much rather be able to use a usb connector and avoid having to construct a rig that looks like a science fair project.

I have never used an EKG machine, but this one looks like it would do the job, and the manufacturer supplies software that will save the readout as a jpg image, which you can easily link to a patient chart in openEMR.
