OpenEMR 4.0 dev tip

bradymiller wrote on Monday, March 22, 2010:

hey,
Plan to change development tip version (3.3.0-dev) to 4.0.0-dev since there’s beginning to be confusion by users regarding 3.3 vs 4.0. This means the entire sql/3_2_0-to-3_3_0_upgrade.sql script will be renamed to the sql/3_2_0-to-4_0_0_upgrade.sql . Tony, it’s probably best to make this change right before you update the svn sftip, so let me know when you plan the next update.

Brady,
I update svn on Monday afternoon before the project meeting.  I doing that as we speak… so if you want to change it now, I’ll refresh my workspace before I push it, or we can do it later in the week or next Monday, any or all is fine by me.

I am working through debugging the 4.0-devtip in order to use the Laboratory Exchange Network and CPOE.  I noticed that there is no insurance tab on patients who do not already have insurance entered.  Neither can i find a way to add insurance in these patients?

Thanks Brady,

The current 4.0 dev-tip is looking quite stable.  We are going to go live again tomorrow with the 4.0 dev-tip in the practice here.  We are looking forward to trying out the new Laboratory Exchange and CPOE changes.

Sam,
You’re brave, but probably ideal for the beta testing to be done by your clinic.

We brought up the 4.0 dev-tip again.  Had a few issues.

The “authorizations” section normally displays the “pnotes” which we depend on heavily as an intraoffice communication tool to handle telephone messaging.  The unauthorized encounters are listed but the “pnotes” do not.

Some of the forms die on opening and just show a “white screen”.  This happens most notably with “vitals” and “vital_signs.”  This does not happen before we populate the tables with our old data so this may be an issue with the configuration of the old data.

If you have ideas on this issues I would like to hear them.

Sam, Thomas’s group revamped Patient Notes and renamed them to Messages.  There’s a new section for them now.  I would hope the old pnotes are preserved/converted as appropriate.

Dunno about the crashing forms, someone would need to troubleshoot that on your site.

Thanks Rod, I found.  Guess I’m glad it wasn’t a snake.

Apparently the upgrade imported all of the pnotes regardless of activity level as “new” so that we have 30,830 “new” notes.

We will need to look at how the get the activity level corrected on my system.

I am back to looking at the 4.0 dev-tip again.  Issues that I have noticed:

The new pop-up windows are pretty, cute but way too small for the 17" and 19" monitors that we use in the office.  This makes me have to look at documents through a very small pin-hole effect.  Adding the ability to reisze these pop-ups will increase usability.

Managing the “lists” without have the screen refresh as we save new problems, allergies, medications appears to interfere with usability.

Sam,
Log your first issue in the bug tracker (and assign to rachoac) - I agree these small modals are decreasing functional “workspace”. Your second issue is already logged in the bug tracker.
