Have we had any more bugs reported and are we ready to release 2.8.1?

I have fixed a couple more bugs, and added a couple of small features.  I think it’s OK to release 2.8.1 now, but if you want to be extra careful and call it 2.8.1-rc2 that’s fine with me also.

Where do we download it. I JUST downloaded and installed 2.8.0 a few days ago, as you might know, and I dont want to start delving into the code and changing it a lot if 2.8.1 is around the corner. What are the major changes? I will look in this forum I suppose…

Will upgrading be pretty straigtforward?

I am up for waiting a week or so and release the 2.8.1 straight, the rc-* are somehow confusing for the final user.

For profjake post my suggestion is that anyone who’s  confortable with at least little php coding should also be fine on getting the source from the cvs repository ,(usually) we don’t commit new code if it’s not already working.

And thus what is on the cvs today is about 99.9% of what it will be on the final 2.8.1 release.

Another advantage on getting familiar with the cvs repositoy is that you’ll be able to upgrade your OpenEMR soft on the fly.

Professor Jake,

Rod installed a message handler on the main screen and applied some bug fixes.  This is a relatively small upgrade between 2.8.0 and 2.8.1(rc1)

openemr2.8.1(rc1) is at:

http://www.oemr.org/html/downloads.php

We don’t normally release two versions this quickly but there were a few important bugs that crept into 2.8.0.

Hi there. Just wanted to check in the staus of a 2.8.1 final release.
Thanks!

drbowen wrote on Thursday, February 23, 2006:

I am waiting for Rod to post 2.8.1 to SourceForge.  I think OpenEMR 2.8.1 (rc1) has not had any problems and will be released as 2.8.1

sunsetsystems wrote on Friday, February 24, 2006:

Sorry for the delay, didn’t realize I was the holdup.  2.8.1 is now released.

There are a couple of additional small changes, most notably a fix to the "vitals" form which was improperly capping some field values (temperature, pulse, etc.) at 99.99.

Please let me know ASAP of any new problems.

Rod: Thank you! I will give it a shot tomorrow.

Bisnu: rc1 stands for release candidate 1.

I, as a policy, do not install anything labelled rc or beta in a production environment.

We welcome smart changes by users,
whenever you make a change or improvement, you can send the .diff files to one developer to have your changes commited to the main repository,
this way, if the changes are good for everyone, next time you download a version, they will be already there.
