Open EMR on Windows Server 2008 Release 2

ahmadrisk wrote on Tuesday, August 17, 2010:

I downloaded and installed OpenEMR 3.2 XAMPP bundle. i installed as administrator. with great expectation that everything will work beautifully, the borwser (Firefox3+) gives me the shocking news of the 404 error:
- type Status report
- message /openemr/
- description The requested resource (/openemr/) is not available.

Help please!

Hi,

Please check whether the folder openemr is present in c:\xampp\htdocs\. Also you can try the shortcut created during the installation to access openemr or try to access with url http://localhost/openemr

Thanks,

Thanks. Everything is in the right place. I get the 404 error when I open OpenEMR either through the shortcut or directly into the browser. i guess it is something to do with Windows Server 2008 R2

Are you certain that you don’t have IIS running & laying claim to ports 80 & 443?

That’s a thought, thanks! I’ll check, stop it if running and report back.

Check to see if IIS is running. If so, Apache hasn’t started yet and the IIS root directory doesn’t have a reference to the openemr folder. Change the running port of IIS by right clicking the “Default Wesite” to 81 and start apache manually using the Xampp-Config tool.

Thank you all, now all sorted. i discovered I ahd an installation of McMaster Oscar complete with its MySQL, postgre and Tomcat!

removed all that and OpenEMR works beautifully
