Offsite portal password retrieval

lamspc wrote on Saturday, November 23, 2013:

I enabled the zh off site portal and then registered. Appeared to be working for a while. However, after unchecking the offsite portal box and then re-enabling it, I cannot get into the portal site from the left panel “portal activity” - giving an error message ‘INVALID USER NAME OR/AND PASSWORD.’ I retyped the password under admin>globals>portal, but no luck

There does not appear to be any mechanism for retrieving a lost password or resetting it. Any help appreciated.

Time after time I had the same problem until I discovered the cause and cure. While I had a fixed external internet IP address, I was addressing the server through the intranet address assigned to it. That was fine until I logged into OpenEMR as admin. Whenever I logged in as admin, the portal started to malfunction as you describe. The same thing happened if I logged in as admin using the external IP address from a remote site.

The cure for me was to log in as admin from a computer within the intranet, but using the internet addresss and to type in the password again. That seems to fix it every time. It does not work if I log in remotely, or locally using the intranet address.

Hi Ronald,
thank you for your suggestion. Unfortunately, my emr server is at a remote location and as such I can only log in via its external IP. So I remain stranded and cannot access whatever requests or mail patients may have filed through the portal. This is a bit frustrating to say the least.

can you upgrade to the latest version of openemr, you could use the secure VPN which dont have this issue.
