I see that “You can cannot mix OpenEMR with modules that are proprietary or closed source”, fair enough. Does this extend to blocking integration of OpenEMR with proprietary data sources? For example, suppose a clinician wanted to use proprietary electronic prescribing data from a third party (e.g. http://www.mims.com.au/index.php/products/mims-integrated) - is writing an open source module that enables that data to be accessed from within an OpenEMR installation prohibited?
Interfaces to external tools are fine, the code that does the interface
will have to be GPL - IF you use any code that already exists in OpenEMR
(derived works). That’s how we did eRX, the interface code is GPL, the
eRX system belongs to NewCrop and is private…
