I am looking for mentor(s) to start a medical billing small business on a **low** budget.
Your help in pointing to the **right** information where I can learn the entire business process for medical billing including all the requirements (hardware, software, certifications, etc) would be greatly appreciated.
I have an engineering back-ground and confident I can learn quickly. I was greatly excited at finding Open EMR website and hope will have the same experience at finding the information that will help me decide on this new project.

There will be a coding conference at Orlando in December this year.  I was told the speakers are nationally known and very knowlegeable about what they talk about.  you may consider going there to get a jump start.  info is here:

The billing part of OpenEMR should satisfy the majority of your needs, in my opinion.  Hope this help some.

Hey Hgangala,

I think it is great you are looking for a mentor to help you start your medical billing business. I own a home based medical billing business myself but I do not have enough years under my belt to qualify as a mentor. However there are a few people and places that I can suggest where you can get the guidance and resources you need.

Paul Hackett is a medical billing business expert and mentor, his website is full of information on home based medical billing and can be found at Medical Billing Business Headquarters Website

Also on that site you will find his ebook call the Medical Billing Home Business Bible which I consider to be the best book I have ever read on the topic of start a medical billing business from home. He also take the time to list a collection of medical billing books he uses to mentor his students on the different aspects of the business and industry. Here is the direct link: medicalbillingbizhq.com/medical-billing-books/

There are 3 medical billing business associations you can join where you can network and ask questions of other medical billers and billing business owners (I also took this excerpt from Paul’s website):
