Other than the in-house pharmacy package there is no drug database built into OpenEMR as a default. The drug lookup in the Prescription model makes a call to a publicly available drug database on the internet. Adding integration to one of the external eRX solutions gets you full drug database access.
There is the ability to add SNOMED codes to the database but they aren’t used (at this time) by the built in prescription tool, I don’t think.
