Messaging System Prioritization of Messages

We use the messaging system in OpenEMR to make referrals. While I’m seeing a patient, I send a message to my referral person to send them to a given specialist regarding such-and-such problem. The problem I’m having is that we make so many referrals, that really important referrals which must be dealt with immediately get buried in all the non-urgent referrals, so my referrals clerk misses the urgent ones, resulting in delays in care and potential legal liability for me.

Can we add a way to prioritize messages in the messaging system? Maybe high priority messages could display in red on the recipient’s display?

Actually, I just added the Patient Note Type:  Referral **URGENT** and told my referral clerk to look for those. That should work just fine.

Please disregard this idea, though it might be nice to have something like this when the messaging re-write is done.
