Hot off the press.
Upgrade from RC is fairly easy:“To upgrade from the RC release, simply launch the Update Manager and install any Level 1 update available.”

Did a fresh installation with stable LinuxMint 17 Mate (Cinnamon did not go well with my older machine) and installed openemr-4.1.2 in /var/www/html instead of the usual for Ubuntu using the tarball. Unzipped patch 5 before creating a new openemr database. I was able to port the openemr.sql and also the ‘defaults’ from my previous openemr-4.1.2 in Fedora 20 easily and with no error. I used the same username and password. Hope these practical points will help.

Hi Jack,
Thanks for the reminder about the html folder. It’s still a big mystery why Riaz Chaudry had such a hard time.
Take note of Brady’s post in regards to production copies. Because you didn’t install the package, hopefully Brady’s advisory has no bearing on your practice.
I have no reason to communicate with another practice’s OpenEMR, so no reason for me to test this vulnerable situation.
When I copy the default folder and the database to the test copy, it will be done offline. Once the testing is done, I plan to delete the OpenEMR package with the patient data and re-install it without patient data.
Production copy is on Windows 7, doing fine. Best to leave well enough alone.

Jack - Just curious, what sort of older machine is that and what part didn’t go well with Cinnamon? Thanks…

Did not run the backup script for the emr_backup.tar from production copy on Windows 7 because of the change in the location of the openemr directory.
Copied/pasted default folder. Unable to export/import using phpMyAdmin, so did mysqldump instead. Most of the database made it. Patients’ insurance cards and minor refinements of the Calendar were lost. Not big deals.
Very reassuring to know that the packages are truly cross platform applications. Will be ready when support for Windows 7 comes to an end.

Hi Rod,
I have attached a txt file of my hardware/software information. I am using the LXDE login now for LM17 with openemr-4.1.2 patch 5 installed in an external USB sata harddisk. The whole sysem runs well. I can also install this whole setup with a 16 gig pendrive for demontration purpose and testing.
