Joining the OpenEMR project

Hi,

Are your guys looking for help?  How do I start?

I’d like info on joining the OpenEMR development effort.

Been eyeing the open source world from afar and am ready to plunge in since I’ve been so frustrated with the limitations of the clinical charting module in a client’s practice management system.

My short-term goal would be to contribute to refining HPI and ROS and PFH for an Occ Med practice and to learn enough about it to wire it as a plugin into Systoc version 7.21.

I’ve been doing healthcare IT for the past ten years and medical instrumentation engineering before that.

My strongest suit is SQL but I’ve designed significant systems in .net.

Hi Phil, yes we’d love to have more help from contributors like you.  Your background sounds like a great fit.

The best way to get started is to install OpenEMR and play with it for a while.  You’ll doubtless come up with some questions and some specific ideas as to what you’d like to do, and we’ll be happy to discuss those things with you here.
