Issues with Templates for Patient Documents

Hi Team

Regarding “Templates for Patient Documents” as noted at

http://www.open-emr.org/wiki/index.php/Templates_for_Patient_Documents

All works well with openoffice. There is no issue with xls or xlsx files. But field do not take with MS WORD files.

I cannot get docx file to import patient data. I cannot get doc files to work either.

Very limited success with Word Template files dotx if they are saved as Word 97-2003 compatible. The templates I have in Word uses drop down menus and calender pick any date fields from" Word developer tap". It would be a lot of work to convert all the files to odt.

Is there a work around?

Faithfully
DH

This project is FOSS, hence developers don’t touch proprietary stuff like Microsoft Word.

Difference between 2 types of files.

Try this or this converter. Best to stay away from online converters because you need to protect PHI.

If the task is too overwhelming as DIY, the only other alternative is paid help.

About your other question, an alternative to creating custom forms; see this page under Layout Based Visit Forms & NationNotes.

Thanks for the Suggestions. I do use custom forms.

Just wonder since word is not supported if it would be possible to create a drop down calender in openoffice.

How to add Date Picker to OpenOffice.

I think xmlformgen is much more difficult to use than LBV forms for those of us who are not programmers. Also more documentation on the latter.

LBV forms can be created with Data Type, Text-date, which renders a pop-up calendar in the body of the form.

See attachment.

Edit 3/25/15
If you have only OpenOffice installed on your device, there is a popup asking if you wish to save a Word document as .odt. The conversion is done automatically without another application.

Would it be possible to insert a signature jpg into the doc?

fsgl wrote on Wednesday, August 26, 2015:

Yes.

It even possible to edit a scanned .pdf in OpenOffice or LibreOffice.
