Hello All,
We are a group of open source developers who strongly believe in the “FOSS movement”. We work as a volunteer basis on several open source initiatives including HealthInformatics, specifically Electronic Health Record and Epidemiological Research for NGO/Non-Profit organizations
Recently, we have been approached by Healthcare NGO in developing country to implement an information management system. Though, OpenMRS is generally implemented in that part of the world, but after our initial discussion with the group we felt that OpenEMR will be better suited for their requirement. Few of our developers had implemented OpenEMR for several clinics and customized it heavily. Two of the developers have worked with the local IT support and we have been able to implement OpenEMR to kick-start the pilot project(collecting data from 7 villages). Now we are moving to the next phase of the project, where we need to do significant customization of OpenEMR including data model changes. As an example, household information is an important data entity that need to be captured to do proper epidemiological stud. This information need to be captured at a family level. Then we need to capture informations such as financial condition, sanitation condition etc (as in these villages the concept of joint families exists, most of the places have either common village toilet or in the woods !!!). As such, there are several more enhancements in the pipeline. We will keep everyone posted with our progress.
Now to our question:
We had implemented openEMR and have customized it significantly for few clients, though we never got involved as a formal vendor in this group. The primary doctor with whom we are working for this initiative, requested us to introduce us in this forum and find out how we can be listed as a professional support, which will provide them some confidence in us. That will help them to increase their credibility also in their ongoing funding activity etc - that they are working with not just individual FOSS developers from US, but with a Open Source Healthinformatics Vendor organization
Please let us know the procedure and qualification to be listed as a professional support
Thanks everyone,
