Internal Billing function for OpenEMR

I have seen some references lately from you guys saying that you are going to be putting the insurance billing functions internally in OpenEMR rather than use FreeB.  Any ideas as to when that transition might take place?

I’m working on some cost estimating for this now, and would like to hear from anyone willing to help fund the effort.  rod at sunsetsystems dot com.

I do all of my insurance billing from within OpenEMR without using FreeB.  It works for me in my small practice.

I understand that large practices will need more sophisticated functionality so I would not suggest that the problem is already solved.

I enter payments in the ‘copay’ screen.  I use my Zirmed script to generate claims to upload to zirmed from the openemr database, and I post incoming checks in the ‘copay’ screen.  It is a little slow when posting from an EOB that has a lot of individual payments listed, but it works for our little practice so far.  From past discussion, I realize that there is much more to insurance billing than this that needs to be implemented before we can really say that we have this feature.
