Integrating an inventory package

I am looking at an inventory package (written in php) that I would like to try and incorporate into OpenEmr as an inventory management module for Durable Medical Equipment / surgical implant inventory etc.

The inventory package I am looking at is no longer actively maintained.

Is there an effort under way already to do this?
