Where and how do I put in insurance termination dates.

Hi

Current OpenEMR Demographics supports insurance ‘Effective Date’. But you can include insurance termination dates by doing some simple customization.

There is already a way to do this.  When a patient’s insurance terminates and there is no replacement insurance, set it to “Unassigned” with the effective date set to the first date that insurance is not in effect.

Vicare, is there any way that this customization can be included in the code. If you can kindly help by guiding us on the customization would be extremely grateful.

Thanks Vicare. It will be nice to have the workflow and I am interested. Also while this patch is being done we have situations where

1 A patient has more than one primary and would like to have the option to choose which one to be billed.

2 There are occassions when the primary old is revived and it has to become the primary current. While in edit mode you only see the primary and do not see the primary old.

3 Is there a way that when a patient has more than one insurance as primary , it will be easier to choose which insurance company should be used for billing and do you think thet this selection in demographics would be more useful.

4 Aside from this I had posted a query regarding Add Facility in cvs 4.0. It does not save new additions. When I comared the code and by a process of elimination while comparing the earlier script and the updated script I believe there is a bug and that is related to line 40 and 41. You can see that also in the demo the same problem exists.

Thanks for all yoru contributions and have a great day

I don’t think this patch is complete, and have added a note about that to the tracker item.

Where would I put the patch?

Visolve,

It is good to have a termination date and at the same old logic be retained may be for past data. I observe the same thing that Rod had noted. I have one more request. We have situations where we have to switch between primary and secondary. What I mean is the Primary insurance becomes secondary insurance vice versa and this change has to be done at the request of the patient. At the moment it can be done only in the data base and not through the GUI. We have the following situations.

1 At the request of patient switch primary to secondary and vice versa.

2 Add another primary insurance
