# Insurance Fields - Policy and Group Numbers

What are the rules for these fields?&nbsp; The “Policy Number” field does not allow a hyphen but the “Group Number” does allow a hyphen.&nbsp; We have patients whose “Group Number” is the same as the “Policy Number” ( which contains a hyphen).&nbsp; This is throwing off boxes 1a and 11 on the CMS1500 form.&nbsp; If this is a bug I will add it to the tracker.
