How to restore

Off topic.
Bought the “Gimp for Linux Bible” several years ago (v1.1) . 727 pages! I only use a few of the simple features now. You will never use Photo$hop again. Use only for editing not for viewing. Gwenview is much faster.

Knew my way around Paint, never used Photoshop.

Will have to do a Google search for a Linux equivalent of Paint. Just want to draw red rectangles.

Found it.

There are no Linux restore directions in the Wiki. Just copied/pasted Frankie’s 1/29/14 post and provided a link to this thread.

Took a quick look to see how many views of that page. 1537. Views on the Windows webpages are comparable. Certain users will rue the day.

Since there are no Linux restore directions, we must accept the fact that restore is probably flawless in Ubuntu, Linux and now also for Linux Mint.

I think I remembered that Windows had problems and you needed to restore the two separate parts included made with the OpenEMR backup.

Linux restore was never mentioned as giving problems. Ubuntu, Mint are both Linux extensions to say it un-respectful. Please correct me where needed.

Hi Pimm,

Earlier in the day I placed Frankie’s directions in Brady’s article on Linux backup here. As David noted above, it was unclear where to find the restore script. Before Frankie’s post, I was not aware that it even existed.

To refresh your memory, I started a thread about a third way to backup/restore because Joe Holzer and Tony McCormick stated that the built-in OpenEMR backup utility was not reliable in a Windows environment. I found that out the hard way when my laptop crashed last February. So CVerk, Kevin and yourself helped with the backup script for Windows. It has worked like a charm. Thank you again, gentlemen, one and all.

Now we have complete Wiki articles for solid backup/recovery in Linux and Windows.

There is not one syllable on backup for Mac users. Until someone speaks up, there is not a lot of impetus to fill that void.

Hi All,

My /openemr/contrib/ directory does not contain a restore script (/var/www/openemr/ directory structure attached).

Is there any other location or name of the script, or can it be found online, or posted?

Thanks

Look in openemr/contrib/util

Thanks David, but my /var/www/openemr/contrib/ does not contain a ‘utils’ directory (see directory tree on last post and attached screenshot (showing hidden files).

Is there somewhere else I should look?

Hi,

I am guessing you (or whoever installed it) removed it per the Security pointers on the following wiki page:

OpenEMR

Here it is online for 4.1.2 (assuming you are using most recent patch):

Thanks, Brady, for supplying the reason for the missing script & the script itself.

I had planned to attach the restore script when I got back to the office. Now there is no need.

Thanks Brady (& fsgl) – I had not linked the security issue, and “contrib” is exactly where I put it when I removed it from /openemr!!! Sorry to take your time.
