How to remove existing information

jcalcatti wrote on Sunday, October 16, 2005:

I just installed Openemr and have a few questions.

- How do I delete the existing information ( such as diagnoses, medications etc) when I set up a new patient.

-What do I need to do to set it up for billing.

Thanks

I’ve had several clients complain that there’s no easy way to delete patients or encounters entered by mistake, or during testing.

Presumably that’s not been supported because it’s not a normally acceptable thing to do in a clinic setting.  So your best solution is probably to start with a fresh database install.  Alternatively you could go through all the SQL tables and delete relevant items manually.

Still, it would be nice to have a delete feature subject to suitable access controls and audit trails.  I’d love to do this if I can find a find a client willing to sponsor the required effort.

Regarding billing setup, see “http://www.oemr.org/OpenEMRWiki/FreeBInstall”.  Also see the “accounting” directory in your OpenEMR installation.  If you’re going to use FreeB then you will need the latest CVS versions of both FreeB (version 1) and OpenEMR.

Rod…thanks for your prompt reply.

I am talking about a fresh install here.  It was installed two days ago.No patients have been entered yet. When I entered the first patient, it comes with certain pre-entered info such as diagnosis etc  that I dont how to delete.
I am not talking about something that I put in and now want to delete it.

Thanks again

As far as billing goes, after I install Freeb do I have to set it up with a  clearinghouse ? do I have to install CPT codes etc.

I would appreciate all help.

I’m very confused about “pre-entered info” for new patients.  I’m not aware of any such thing.

Yes, you’ll want a clearinghouse to process your FreeB output.  CPT codes are also required.  See contrib/util for some Perl scripts that I created to help you load CPT, ICD9 and HCPCS codes.

Also you’ll probably want to set up SQL-Ledger and OpenEMR’s interfacing for it to keep track of your receivables.

Dear  jcalcatti,

Can you copy and paste the information that you are seeing hear for us to look at?  Also we will need to know the part of the program that is giving you difficulty… problem list, history,  billing, etc.

Was this information already there before you started doing anything? Or did it show up as you were entering practice information.

I the history section there is a list of information above the Chronic medical problems, a mediction list, an allergy list, and a list of surgeries.  These are "pick lists" that allow rapid data entry by clicking on the information and not part of the patient record.

If you play wiht the lists by enetering practice info on a practice patient you will see the real list showing below the text entry boxes.

Thanks very much Sam. It was the list of preexisting  diagnosing etc that I thought was getting associated with the new patients. It in fact wasnt.

Now if decide to go with open emr billing, what do I need to do to get it started.

Thanks very much.
