How to add an office service charge?

I would like to add an office service charge to a patient’s bill which is not related to an “encounter”.

How do I do this?  This charge will not be billed to the patient’s  insurance.

I am using OpenEMR 4.0

Add a new entry in the Service Category in Admin-> Lists. Add your custom codes now and  I think you can check check/uncheck “Reportable” to achieve the same affect.

what does “reportable” do?

It appears you meant   Admin->Services  instead of Admin->Lists

I can’t add an item without specifying a price for it… I’d like to be able to add an invoice item and then specify the price at the time the item was added.

Do you know of a way to add an invoice item where the amount of the line-item is variable?

In Admin-> Lists Look for “Service Category” and “Code Types” where you can add more classifications that affect the Admin->Services page.

I just tried to understand what Reportable meant and is activated only for ICD codes so it must be for something else. At our clinic we run into a similar situation all the time (variable prices). So we put 0.00 for the code (in Admin -> Services) and when we add that item to the fee sheet, there’s a column where you can adjust the price of that item.

Hi,
I’m pretty sure the “reportable” is used for the Syndromic Surveillance report feature.

Here’s my solution.

Menu:  (after you’ve created or displayed a particular encounter for a patient)
   Fees -> Charges

Then go to Coding -> Other

you can then enter anything you want (best to standardize on something like “OFFICE” with a description “Office expenses - see attached itemization” for the description.   You can specify the amount on this screen.
