I did some lurking and read it’s possible to sync orders between EMRs (in my case CPSI and OpenEMR) with HL7.
Is it possible to sync patient information and visit information as well?

That is great. This will be useful in adding / modifying db fields. They also have some tools for HL7v3 which is a completely different animal.
