Expected End / Resolution Dates

Will it help if each issue has optional ‘Expected End Date’?
Ideally the expected end date for prescriptions can be derived but it may be good to add expected end date for prescriptions as well.
This will allow setting up rules for follow ups to confirm that a issue has indeed resolved / ended.

Hi MD Support,

Are we talking about the Issues module (Medical Problems, Allergies, Medications, etc.) or Prescription in the Patient Summary or both?

In clinical practice we edit each of the Issues during a Comprehensive Exam. If there is a resolution of a Medical Problem or if incorrect information had been entered, the new record would reflect the change without us being prompted.

A pharmaceutical drug is usually written for a finite period because we ask the pharmacy to dispense a set quantity with a specific number of refills.

We generally document in the Plan portion of an exam when we would like a patient to return and again we don’t need to be nudged.

The short answer to your questions is no.

If you have free time, it would be great for the specialist users like myself to have our own Medications box. Most of the medications entered in that box are from our Internal Medicine colleagues. When reporting the CPOE requirement for Meaningful Use, this causes low ratios. If we can have our own box, it would be great. It would mean a little more work for the specialist, but it will be much easier when it is time to attest.
