Error saving globals

jschires wrote on Saturday, January 11, 2014:

This is the error Im receiving when editing globals. Unfortunately I had an issue with the Smarty plugin and re installed open emr to correct it. The globals were saving fine before the re install.

Not Acceptable

An appropriate representation of the requested resource /openemr/interface/super/edit_globals.php could not be found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Why not help instead of deleting without helping.

Doesn’t look like anyone has a quick answer, so I think you’ll need to provide more information. Windows or Linux? What exactly did you do up to this point? Does the file specified in the error message exist? Does the directory exist? If so, what are their ownership and permissions?

You are right i didn’t give any details; I thought somebody else had this issue before.

  1. Server: Linux Share Hosting (Godaddy)

  2. I just installed OpenEMR in /public_html/openemr directory with out any issues everything seems to be working fine but the Globals you can see and change options but as soon you click Save it gives the error. So i re installed it on /public_html but with the same result getting error:

"Not Acceptable

An appropriate representation of the requested resource /interface/super/edit_globals.php could not be found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."

3)The directory and the file exists

  1. Permissions for edit_globals.php = 644
Permissions for super (Dir) = 755
Permissions for interface (Dir) = 755

Thanks for your help I really appreciated

There are some clues here:

Looks like the easiest solution may be to ask Godaddy support to turn off mod_security.

EDIT 2014-07-21: Link above changed, old one didn’t work any more.

I am also facing same problem… can u you please share how you resolve this problem with godaddy. What steps u followed.

See remark of Rod! It seems to have solved the problem. for Jose.

vikrant19 wrote on Sunday, July 20, 2014:

Solution proposed by Rod is more of wordpress blog related. How can I resolve this issue with OpenEMR hosted on godaddy. Rest all is working fine as mentioned by jose. Only on save getting above mentioned error.

Someone kindly help in this regard, how can I make it work…

Hi Vikrant,

As Rod stated above, “Looks like the easiest solution may be to ask Godaddy support to turn off mod_security.”
Suggest trying that to see if that solves your issue.

But will that not affect security of my website & application ?

I am getting following error message. I don’t wanna resolve this by disabling “mod_security”. As it will affect security of my website & application. is there any other work around for this problem. Kindly help in this regard all the OPENEMR funcatinality are working fine only getting error message when trying to save any change in “Globals”.

following is a error message

Not Acceptable

An appropriate representation of the requested resource /interface/super/edit_globals.php could not be found on this server.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

File Access permissions

Permissions for edit_globals.php = 644
Permissions for super (Dir) = 755
Permissions for interface (Dir) = 755

If the problem is a false positive from mod_security then the bug is there, not here. You should at least try what’s been suggested to see if that is indeed the case. Nothing’s going to happen if you don’t narrow it down.

Rod Just want to share error messages which I was getting while installing OpenEMR on godaddy. Just want to confirm once with all of u guys. Can attached error message be a reason for my problem.

If yes? what steps should I follow to over come this problem. In case any other details required from my end please let me know.

vikrant19 wrote on Sunday, July 27, 2014:

Will it work if i disable mode_security and complete the installation process. Once done again enable it.

Will that approach work ?

sunsetsystems wrote on Monday, July 28, 2014:

Looks to me like those messages are just warnings, not the cause of your problem.

The immediate point of disabling mod_security is to narrow down the problem. Don’t know yet what the best long term solution is.

If hosting is not absolutely necessary for the practice, using OpenEMR on a non-server device will greatly simplify matters. Problems related to Global settings and OpenVPN probably will disappear on a Windows 7 local machine.

If hosting and use of a server are vital to the practice, consider professional support. Without an IT background, most DIY-ers will be out of their elements with hosting and servers.
