Thanks guys! I re-synced from Github today & upgraded, & it’s all there.
Can’t wait to see this in action. Do we have any idea of what this is going to cost, per provider?

I have been using Allscripts e-prescribing for awhile and it is free so it would be nice if that stayed a viable option. The script codes above actually worked OK, but had a couple of quirks. Unlike manually entering a prescription, you do not have the option of putting it into your medication list or not, so it will usually make a duplicate entry especially if your list is entered even slightly differently that how the pharmacy lists it. You can stop this by just removing the list portion of the PHP file but then if you do want to put it on the list you need to go back and do that manually by editing the prescription. Also if you have a duplicate or reject there is no way to remove it so you are stuck with it forever on that list unless you go and delete it directly from the database under phpadmin. I am hoping my observations can be used to help keep the free alscripts e-prescribing as an option in the upcoming updates rather than going through again all it takes to get going on one of these systems.
mdsupport wrote on Friday, August 05, 2011:
We have similar issue as everyone is used to Allscripts. Current form leaves meds alone in import. phase A selective transfer is used during visit to fill medication list from prescriptions. Also the errors are resolved by allowing assignment of specific pid as a target for a prescription that could not be matched.
We will need to take out some custom stuff and then we can post the update if anyone is interested.

I am definitely interested. Do you think the upcoming 4.01 release will be interference in using such a system or might it get incorporated as part of the release itself.

How do we turn on newcrop? btw I am a nwcrop vendor also and know how to make the xml to open their portal.

Hi,
Here are details on the newcrop rx stuff that has been described by the supporting vendor of that feature here (at post 15):

@ mdsupport , is your updated code for the Allscripts data import available on Github? We have some people using the free Allscripts e-prescribe that would be willing to do a little manual manipulation on the side to have their data available in OpenEMR.
Thanks!

Hi,
It would be nice to optimize/streamline/document the Allscripts e-prescribe method and make it an official option in OpenEMR.

Yeah it would be great to see the latest allscripts code from mdsupport. Might be able to talk a client into sponsoring some polishing, if needed.
mdsupport wrote on Tuesday, October 04, 2011:
Since there was not much interest, we customized that code to work with local forms & other workflow. But almost all deficiencies noted by cverk earlier have been addressed already.
We will upload a clean version in couple of days. Right now in the middle of 4.1 upgrade for a site…

@mdsupport,
Thanks in advance for you work.
@all
I’m working on integration with Allscripts from a different stand point. It requires using firefox and greasemonkey(for cross site scripting), but it will add links from OpenEMR, which then take you to Allscripts and fill in the patient information accordingly. I plan to have an initial version of this ready later this week and I’ll post details at that time.

Kevin that sounds very cool also. I was thinking recently about the scripting approach and how to get around browser restrictions. With that for sending over patient data, and mdsupport’s work for getting prescriptions in the other direction, sounds like good promise for a unified solution.

@Rod
If you are curious, the code is pretty simple

Greasemonkey is a great tool.

Hi, I would like to know what is the status of the Allscript integration to OEMR. Kevin were you able to integrate it like you mentioned before, has someone tried it, is it working? Thanks, Happy Holidays to all!

I have a version for NewCropRx that connects to Surecripts

It is a free service?

Hi,
Here’s a wiki page covering both Kevin’s Allscripts solution and the included NewCropRx solution:

I can donate the code to connect to NewCrop but you need to pay a subscription monthly for the NewCrop’s connection to Surescripts. They charge a initiation fee of a few thousand a small monthly amount for “basic” and more for “plus” version. The Plus version version does drug interaction checking and formulary checking based on the patient’s insurance plan. According to NewCropRx you need the Plus version to qualify for “Meaningful Use” and attestation…if you are prescribing. If you decide go do e-prescribing under our membership you could skip the initiation fees. Don 702-767-3136 www.emr4doctors.com

The code for connecting to NewCrop is already in OpenEMR 4.1.0. The subscription process goes through ZMG, LLC currently, which is a joint venture of Medical Information Integration, LLC and Z&H Healthcare Services who have been long time contributors.
We (OpenEMR) love choices, I’m not exactly sure how Don plans on integrating his code into the existing release. And get those changes re-certified with CMS, though the OEMR would be happy to help with that process.
By the way Don, your website has been attacked or something, I get a MALWARE warning when I try to browse to it.
