My personal take away from this article (although I disagree with this interpretation) is that The E_H_R allows communication and transmission of the patient’s health information between all the facilities participating in his/her care. Insofar as HIE’s are available, and insofar as consultants are ready and willing to exchange CCD’s, OpenEMR is an EHR.
