My name is Harley Tuck; I’ve been lurking around the OEMR forums for a couple weeks and I’m especially interested in the Mental Health potentials of OEMR. I’ve read about efforts to include the DSM-IV TR but haven’t seen references to success in obtaining an authoritative copy of the codes, so I took a liberty.
A few days ago I emailed the people who own the DSM and, without mentioning OEMR, asked what the licensing situation was re: including the DSM in an open source, royalty/ license free EMR. This evening Ms Hernandez emailed me back, “I have spoken with our Permissions manager and have been notified that this is something we can do.” She gave me the link below to an online questionaire to fill out. I have not done anything with the questionnaire.
OEMR org should probably fill this thing out. The next thing that is needed is the set of codes in a standardized format (akin to the CMS’s release of ICD9/10 codes), so then somebody can work it into the current import mechanism that is already used for ICD9/ICD10/SNOMED/RxNorm codes.
Hi guys,
I will check this out this evening, and perhaps fill it in on the part of OEMR. The code list is another good direct-application project too.
Tony forwarded this to me, and I am pretty sure that the rest of OEMR would be happy to see this done.
