Dispatching scanned docs

Tried to dispatch a jpeg document in the /mnt/scan_docs folder, but got a pop up window with the following error:

http://localhost/openemr/interface/fax/fax_dispatch.php?scan=cxr.jpeg
Mkdir returned 1:

This must be a permission error - but of which folder? And what should the correct permissions be?

Using Openemr 4.1.2 on debian linux

Any help appreciated

Could be /sites//faxcache not there or its ownership/updatability.
