Directions for quick startup in understanding EMR logic

Hi All!

I have no previous experience in EMR and generally healthcare software.

I am thinking of using OpenEMR for a small group of doctors (~20) that need to coordinate their efforts in a non-profit orginization.

They need to travel and examine patients.

I need to bind their activities together in OpenEMR allowing them to collaborate for their cause.

From what i have seen ( i have downloaded and installed OpenEMR) its fits its purpose correctly.

I just need a quick startup on how the building components of the software works. What is the flow of using the software…The documentation i think requests that the reader has some kind of knowledge , which unfortunately i dont (regarding medical healthcare matters)…

How i should go about?

You can have it good or have it fast, but you can’t have both.

To have it good, at a minimum, understand everything on the 4.1.0 Users Guide page. Medicine and EHR’s are complex subjects, so there is such thing as an easy route to mastering both.

Thank you both.

I am not looking for fast and easy i just want to spent some time initially on the logic behind OpenEMR…I mean to have in some detail the usage logic behind the core components of the system.

I understand that your proposal only refers to the 4.1.0 manual, so i will take your word on that.

Srini, you will most probably hear from me. Thank you!

Elias
