Hello, I apologize if this topic has been covered in another thread, I have not been able to find any answers on my own. I am preparing OpenEMR for use in a multi specialty practice here in Argentina. The Doctors do Kinesiology, Ozone Treatments & Homeopathy. One issue I am trying to iron out is that the doctors need to create a “Treatment Plan” after the initial evaluation and potentially change this plan as the patient progresses or has new issues crop up. Does Open EMR have such a function? If yes, how do I go about implementing it so that every time a patient visits the clinic, the treatment plan is viewable by which ever doctor is attending them. Also, I need this course of treatment viewable in a separate window so that when the secretary is scheduling the future appointments, the treatment plan is onscreen at the same time as the appointment booking screen. Is this possible with OpenEMR? Thanks in advance for your .02!
My name is Ana María Espinoza and I´ve been working in a large project in which OpenEMR is the tool implemented as clinic system since 2006. One of my colleagues working in the organization that is funding this project located your email and it took our attention since we are just starting last year the system implementation in a public hospital in Buenos Aires and shortly will be starting the same process in a NGO focus on health services for youth.
I´m not a developer but an implementer, and based on the info you´ve given I could say the Issues section is a good option to track a treatment, diagnostics, etc.
What version of OpenEMR you´re using? could you share in which city of Argentina you´re working on? wondering if in the middle term a good inter institutional collaboration could happen?
FSGL- Thanks for the suggestion! Two open tabs could potentially solve the problem with scheduling. I will study the thread and see what I can implement based on the info contained therein.
Hi Ana Maria! I am located in Capital Federal. It’s nice to see others getting onboard with OpenEMR down here! It really is a great solution for small to medium sized consultorios. I’ll check out the Issues section of the system and in the user manual on how to implement it. Thanks for the suggestion!
I would definitely be interested in a possible collaboration with your company. My goals are to have an Argentine Castellano translated version & get OpenEMR setup to handle medical billing with OSDE and the other major insurance companies down here so we have a turn key system ready to deploy in any size office.
We are currently deploying OpenEMR version v4.1.1 (12).
The Issues module does not accommodate entries that are longer than one sentence. If the treatment plans are a paragraph or more, this module will need to be re-configured to use textareas rather than textboxes and the headings, Medical Problems, et cetera, will need to be changed to avoid confusion.
The Issues module will be just fine. The doctor can enter each treatment item separately in just one sentence & the secretary can have the Issues screen up on the bottom frame of the main screen. Where would I look to add a new category called “Treatment Plan” on the Issues module? or should I be asking this in the developers forum? Thanks!
