Choices defaulting to YES

juggernautsei wrote on Sunday, December 18, 2011:

HI,

I just upgraded from v4.0 to v4.1.0 (5). The problem I am unable to solve at the moment is the choices are all defaulted to yes. This causes me not to be able to enable the patient portal. Even if I change the choice to no and then back to yes the patient portal will not enable. I have changed it to unassigned and it still shows yes. It is this way on every patient in the system. I have checked the forum and no one has reported having this issue. I have changed all the answers from yes to no and then just put the patient portal question to yes and it still will not enable. I can’t think of anything else from the UI to do. HELP…

Hi,
Can’t confirm this bug on the online demos. Have you modified the ‘Yes/No’ list in Administration->Lists or have you modified what list you have assigned to these entries in Administration->Layouts (should be ‘yesno’ list). Also note the patient portal(s) need to be turned on in Administration->Globals->Portal.

Hi
Just a probably totally irrelevant comment. When playing around in the Layout - Demografics from an internationalisation point of view, using the yesno list seems to be less suited than using the boolean list. I have changed it to use the boolean, so probably it will not work when i get to use it sometime in the future.
My suggestion would be to change from yesno lists to the boolean in the future where possible as it is a less error prone design.

Brady,

I wouldn’t call this a bug. It is particular to this install because this system has had a few modifications. What are the other dependancies for the patient portal? I have other intalls that the patient portal is working just fine on. It is the one for Dr. East that is giving me the problem.

Your pointing in the right direction has helped me to fix the issue. The yesno was changed by me and I made it as the other install with

      ID                 Label                         Default
    YES                YES
     NO                  NO                              x

The ID was 1 and 2 respectfully. So, that throw the whole thing off but I had other forms that I had build on that list being that way now I have to dig back in and redesign those forms that had to do with the HPI that Tony and Ken are working on.

Glad it was something simple.

Morten: thanks for the comment…

Hi Sherwin,

Check out the portal page on the wiki for instructions (will illustrate portal dependencies):
