Hi,
I need to know whats the difference between Payment and Checkout in openEMR under fee menu.
if i don’t use checkout option, will it affect any report generation or any other issues.
Thanks in advance

I remember Payment & Checkout being very similar in the past with one module permitting the posting of credit card payments.
Presently Payment allows input of different types of payments, while Checkout is merely a summary of total charges & balance due, serving as a receipt.
It is not necessary to use either as long as the EOB Posting Invoice is a true reflection of all Accounts Receivable data. We use the Superbill as proof of receipt given to the patients.

Thanks Fsgl,
There is one more thing i would like to know, Is there any way to add two separate bill for the same encounter and print the receipts for it.
Because in our facility registration fee and consultation fee are collected first, only then the patient is allowed to consult the physician. so we need to print a registration receipt before the detailed bill.

You’re welcome.
Staff can print the EOB Posting Invoice for that encounter.
Another option, if patients are self-pay, is to use Charges Panel. All the payments will appear on the receipt.
Some Financial Reports don’t work well with Charges Panel.

Thanks Again,
But I think this wont solve my problem…
Our Workflow goes like this…
first we are generating a fee sheet for consultation and Registration, then after the consultation patient will be charged for procedures or products etc…
we want to print this second receipt without the registration and consultation fee, for this same encounter.

Customization will be required to print separate payments.
