Is it needed for E&M CPT codes (more time spent with patient = more reimbursement)?
Why do you need the equivalent of a punch clock?
teryhill wrote on Sunday, March 29, 2015:
Not the punch clock more of an office flow board. Where is Mr Doe ? How long has he been here? how long did the triage take? how long was the Dr with him?

If no one shares their patient tracker, can you configure a system that puts timestamps on arrival at clinic, finished at reception, put into exam room, left exam room & left clinic?

Staurt,
While I am not fond of re-inventing the wheel if it is already done , if no one has a suitable solution ; know that I am working on it and any input would be appreciated.
I can see a need for this in larger practices and smaller hospitals. Hopefully this will help minimize patient complaints and give doctors another tool to better manage their practice.
Thanks for all your help (fsgl)

I agree.
Why kill yourself when someone else has done the heavy lifting?
If no takers on your first post of this thread, I’ll chime in, prn.
There definitely is a need.
I have different ideas about the solution; but I’ll keep them to myself, because young folks don’t like to hear old folks whine.
teryhill wrote on Sunday, March 29, 2015:
But to those of us who whine is is a musical interlude to hear some one else.
I look forward to you chiming in , FTE
Will send a rough outline to WW later today

Haven’t come across such solution but you have this information indirectly - either in relevant tables or in the log file timestamps for database updates:
If encounter is created automatically at check-in from appointment screen, your have check-in time.
If reception sets the status to “checked out”, you have check-out time.
teryhill wrote on Wednesday, April 01, 2015:
The date is stored in the field but not the time. I am not sure what impact this change is going to have. If anyone has some in site on this it would be appreciated.
Thanks

Log table captures timestamp. But on second thought, using any of the background data capture precludes correcting human lapses. So you are better off adding two explicit fields to the encounter summary screen (for possible editing) and automatically update from appointment status changes - only if blank and appointment-encounter relationship can be derived reliably.
teryhill wrote on Thursday, April 02, 2015:
that’s exactly where we are headed, except it will probably be a separate file and the editing will be thru the patient tracker module. I will just add hooks to the programs to update that file.
Thanks for the input and great feedback.
Maybe have some screen shots in a week or so.

Working out the screen. Getting information from calendar right now. Will be changing that as I go along.

Great work Terry…since you are working on this, Its just a suggestion - is it possible to add a waiting list of patient. I mean patients who are waiting for the doctor in first come first serve basis. Is it possible?

There will be an option that show those who have arrived but are not yet in a room

Another screen shot of the progress. Added a couple of fields. Any suggestions on other fields that might be needed.
